چکیده

Anti-site disorder is one of the most important issues that arises in synthesis double perovskite for spintronic applications. Although it known anti-site leads to a proliferation structural defects, as anti-phase boundaries separate ordered domains sample, little about magnetic correlation across these on microscopic level. Motivated by this, we report resonant elastic X-ray scattering study room temperature and thin-film sample Sr$_2$CrReO$_6$, which has highest $\mathrm{T_C}$ among perovskites. Structurally, discovered existence nanodomains $\sim$15~nm sample. Magnetically, moments are shown lie perpendicular $c$ direction. Most remarkably, found length far exceeds size individual nanodomains. Our results therefore provide conclusive proof robust Sr$_2$CrReO$_6$.

Ferroelectric translational antiphase boundaries in nonpolar materials

Ferroelectric materials are heavily used in electro-mechanics and electronics. Inside the ferroelectric, domain walls separate regions in which the spontaneous polarization is differently oriented. Properties of ferroelectric domain walls can differ from those of the domains themselves, leading to new exploitable phenomena. Even more exciting is that a non-ferroelectric material may have domain...

Long-range magnetic coupling across a polar insulating layer.

Magnetic interactions in solids are normally mediated by short-range exchange or weak dipole fields. Here we report a magnetic interaction that can propagate over long distances (∼10 nm) across a polar insulating oxide spacer. Evidence includes oscillations of magnetization, coercivity and field-cooled loop shift with the thickness of LaAlO3 in La0.67Sr0.33MnO3/LaAlO3/SrTiO3 heterostructures. S...

Antiphase magnetic boundaries in iron-based superconductors: A first-principles density-functional theory study

Superconductivity arises in the layered iron-pnictide compounds when magnetic long-range order disappears. We use first-principles density-functional methods to study magnetic arrangements that may compete with long-range order near the phase boundary. Specifically, we study the energetics and charge-density distribution through calculation of the electric field gradients for ordered supercells...

Atomic structure of antiphase domain boundaries of a thin Al2O3 film on NiAl(110).

Line defects of a thin alumina film on NiAl(110) have been studied on the atomic level with scanning tunneling microscopy at 4 K. While boundaries between two reflection domains do not expose a characteristic structure, antiphase domain boundaries are well ordered. The latter boundaries result from the insertion of a row of O atoms, as atomically resolved images of the topmost oxygen layer show...
